Our founder Krystle Moody Wood and Ocean Conservation Consultant Carolynn Box are both currently serving as advisors, and application reviewers, for the Conservation X Labs “Microfiber Innovation Challenge”. Materevolve is also serving as an amplification partner of the challenge as it aligns with our values in innovation and thoughtful solutions through the lens of sea.

Conservation X Labs is currently searching for innovations in the following categories:

1. Replace

Replace textiles that are sources of plastic microfibers with alternatives designed for non-toxic biodegradation in natural environments.

2. Prevent

Develop improved textile manufacturing processes (e.g. weaving, treatments) to decrease microfiber shedding.

They are awarding $650,000 to transformative innovations addressing plastic microfiber pollution.
